MILWAUKEE, WI — A Milwaukee father has been found guilty in the fatal shooting of his 4-year-old son, according to a FOX6 Milwaukee report.
A Milwaukee County jury on Thursday convicted Ralph Taylor, 35, of first-degree intentional homicide and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, the station reported. He is scheduled to be sentenced April 23.
The shooting happened the night of July 10, 2025, at an apartment near 75th Street and Northridge Lakes in Milwaukee.
According to a criminal complaint, Taylor initially told police the shot must have come from outside and entered through an open third-floor window. Investigators later determined that account was false.
Taylor later told detectives a gun had been under a pillow while the child was jumping on a mattress, according to the report. Prosecutors said Taylor also admitted putting the gun back because he was a felon.
The boy’s mother, Casandra Taylor, was also charged in the case with neglecting a child, the consequence of which is death, and straw purchasing of a firearm.
