Flooding Possible During Heavy Rainfall: Wisconsin Weather

A hazardous weather outlook was issued for the Milwaukee metro area and beyond ahead of possible heavy rainfall and flooding on Tuesday.

MILWAUKEE — The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for the Milwaukee metro area and beyond ahead of possible heavy rainfall and flooding on Tuesday.

The hazardous outlook covers the counties of Marquette, Green Lake, Fond du Lac, Sheboygan, Sauk, Columbia, Dodge, Washington, Ozaukee, Iowa, Dane, Jefferson, Waukesha-Milwaukee, Lafayette, Green, Rock, Walworth, Racine, Kenosha.

"On again, off again showers and storms today. Locally heavy rainfall with storms will produce ponding on roadways and minor flooding of poor drainage and urban areas," the National Weather Service said.

"On again, off again showers and storms will continue tonight, and decrease in coverage through the day Wednesday. Clearing is expected Thursday with quiet weather and a warming trend heading into the weekend."

Here's the week-ahead NWS forecast from the Milwaukee Airport:

Tuesday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before 2pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. High near 68. East wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tuesday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Low around 62. East wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Wednesday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 2pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 2pm and 3pm, then a chance of showers after 3pm. Cloudy, with a high near 67. East wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Wednesday Night: A 40 percent chance of showers before 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 60. East wind 5 to 10 mph.

Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 68. East wind 5 to 10 mph.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 58. East wind 5 to 10 mph.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 71. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.

Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 60. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 74.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 61.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 76.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 60.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 78.
