Girl, 3, Shot And Killed In Milwaukee

The three-year-old was shot in Milwaukee's north side, the latest in a string of shootings to take the life of a young child in the region.

MILWAUKEE, WI —A three-year-old girl was shot and killed in Milwaukee Saturday morning.

It’s the latest in a troubling spate of shootings to take the life of a young child in the region in recent weeks. The girl was shot in Milwaukee's north side. The shooting occurred shortly before 9 a.m. Saturday in the area of 42nd and Townsend. The toddler was rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

“It was a baby! An innocent child,” neighbors told WISN 12 News reporter Chernéy Amhara.

A police department chaplain was on the scene attempting to comfort two women and a another toddler. According to,WISN 12 News, detectives found a car near 26th and Walnut they think was involved in the fatal shooting.

According to the Journal Sentinel, at least four children five-years-old or younger have met violent deaths in recent weeks in the region. A 5-year-old boy was shot and killed in the 3200 block of North 45th Street last month. Another 5-year-old boy was shot and last month in Kenosha, and his body was abandoned at a local hospital. And a police arrested two people in the death of another 5-year-old boy who was found not breathing in the 2600 block of West Ruby Street.
