MILWAUKEE, WI — Across the United States, people will be celebrating Memorial Day on Monday, a national holiday to honor those who died in active military service.

Although it's a national holiday, most retail businesses around the village will be open. But it's always idea to call ahead and check.

Here's a look at how Memorial Day will affect institutions and services around Milwaukee:

Municipal Court: Milwaukee County Circuit Court is closed Monday.

Government: City Hall and offices will be closed. Federal, state and county offices also will be closed.

Schools: No classes for the Milwaukee Public School District

Milwaukee Public Library: All Milwaukee Public Libraries will be closed on Saturday, May 26 and Monday, May 28 in observance Memorial Day

Postal Service: No mail delivery, and all post offices will be closed.
