New Year's Eve 2018 Free Ride Program To Help Curb Drunk Driving

In the event you have too much to drink on New Year's Eve (or plan to), buses in Milwaukee County are offering free rides. Here's the info:

MILWAUKEE, WI — Partiers out celebrating the end of 2017 who may have had too much to drink can get a safe ride home on the bus thanks to the Miller Lite Free Rides program.

According to company officials, the brewing company has teamed up with the Milwaukee County Transit System to provide free bus rides from 8 p.m. through the end of bus service on Sunday, Dec. 31 into the new year - which runs to 4 a.m. on specific routes throughout the Milwaukee area.

Several bus routes, including the GreenLine, BlueLine, Routes 14, 15, 19, 21, 27, 30-30X — will have extended service until 4 a.m. The GoldLine will extend service to Brookfield Square Mall until 3 a.m. Two routes, Routes 14 and 19, will have limited extended service. Route 14 will extend its service all the way to 74th and Holmes, and Route 19 will extend service only on S. 13th Street.


Free Rides will also be offered on New Year’s Eve in Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Minneapolis and St. Paul, and Phoenix. For more information, visit MillerLiteFreeRides.com.

Company officials say the Free Rides program has provided more than 5.5 million people with a safe ride home on New Year's eve in its 30 years of operation. Officials say the program has been an important part of MillerCoors effort to help curb drunk driving.
