SCAM ALERT: Phony Sheriff's Deputy is Calling Residents Over Missed Jury Duty
The Sheriff's Office wants you to know they do not call citizens regarding jury duty, or call to threaten arrest for failure to pay fines.

MILWAUKEE -- If you receive a telephone call from a person identifying themselves as a Milwaukee County Sheriff's Deputy regarding missed jury duty time, it's actually a phone scam, and it's costing people money.
According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's office, an unknown suspect has been calling Milwaukee County residents over the past couple of days and identifying himself as a sheriff’s deputy from the Sheriff’s Office. The scammer advises the victims that they have missed jury duty and have to pay a fine or face arrest.
One victim has come forward who complied with the request to purchase a pre-paid credit card and give the card number to the suspect over the phone. The victim lost $1000 to the scam artist.

Another version of the scam has the caller asking the victim to come down to the courthouse, after hours, to pay the fine.
