City Targets 19 Properties For Redevelopment
The city says it will take tax-foreclosed properties and redevelop them in order to revitalize the housing stock in neighborhoods.

RACINE, WI — City officials are targeting 19 tax delinquent properties for redevelopment through a new pilot program announced by Mayor Cory Mason.
Called the Property Reactivation Pilot Program, city officials say the goal is to pilot a land banking process in which the City is able to take tax foreclosed properties and redevelop them in order to revitalize the housing stock in neighborhoods, while also increasing owner occupancy. The pilot program will include a total of 19 properties in the City.

“All of our residents deserve to live in quality housing. It is the City’s role to help make sure we have a place for everyone in our community regardless of your background, income, race, or what part of town you live in. We know the City needs new market rate and affordable options in the City, but we also have to address the existing housing stock in our neighborhoods,” Mason said in a statement to Patch.
The Department of City Development is issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) process which opens April 30 and will accept proposals until 4 p.m. on May 31. The RFP and the available properties will be displayed on the City of Racine Redevelopment Authority website at https://www.buildupracine.org/...
