DACA Supporters Raise $6K In 18 Hours For Racine Protesters
23 were arrested as they locked arms and sat at a busy intersection. The campaign has raised $6,714 of their $10,000 goal by 170 donors.

RACINE, WI — A fund to pay the fines of 23 people who were arrested during a DACA demonstration at the corner of Main and Sixth Streets has accumulated more than $6,000 in less than 24 hours, organizers say.
On Monday, March 5, demonstrators walked out of school, left their office and homes, and came shouting "this is what democracy looks like" and "si se puede," as they linked arms and sat in a cirle at the intersection.

The group of 125 students, parents and supporters wanted to pressure Speaker Paul Ryan to support DACA on the program's deadline day. Their demonstration ended with no Paul Ryan, and 23 arrests.
The fundraising campaign "Help Pay the Fines for the Dream Act Civil Disobedience!" is hosted on the YouCaring donation website. According to data posted at noon Tuesday, the campaign has raised $6,714 of their $10,000 goal by 170 donors.
