Man Arrested For Drunk Driving Had Mastiff As Passenger: Cops

According to authorities in Racine County, a man arrested for his seventh drunk driving offense had a mastiff as his passenger.

RACINE COUNTY, WI -- Authorities in Racine County say a man from Manitowoc was arrested for his seventh drunk driving offense - this time traveling with a mastiff - a dog that can be as large as three feet tall and up to 230 pounds.

According to the Racine County Sheriff's office, an officer was on patrol just after 1 a.m. on Saturday, Sep. 29, when he saw the driver of a vehicle swerving out of its lane on Highway 36.

According to reports, the driver, a 50-year-old man from Manitowoc, nearly struck a concrete center curb before the officer made a traffic stop on the driver.

The responding deputy reported that the driver had bloodshot eyes and a strong odor of alcohol present on his breath. According to reports, the man admitted to consuming two beers, however after the man did not pass standard field sobriety tests issued by the deputy, he was arrested on suspicion of his seventh drunk driving offense.

Reports indicated that the 50-year-old Manitowoc man was driving with a large mastiff mix dog in the cabin. The man was transported to the Racine County Jail, while the dog was turned over to a friend.
