The Racine Zoo is getting ready for summer!

MOUNT PLEASANT-STURTEVANT, WI - From The Racine Zoo: It’s cold outside, but it’s not too early to be thinking warmer thoughts. How about joining the Racine Zoo for Summer Camp this year? Summer Camp sessions are available to children three years of age to youngsters entering the seventh grade in the fall of 2018. Zoo Summer Camp sessions begin the week of June 18th and end the week of August 20th. Registrations are being accepted online at https://www.racinezoo.org/2018-zoo-summer-camp, via mail or email to education@racinezoo.org.
Each year, Racine Zoo’s Summer Camp program hosts hundreds of children for hands-on educational opportunities to learn about animals and conservation while playing games and having fun. From story-time for preschool campers to our older Junior Zookeepers helping staff care for the animals, each child leaves our camp with a deep love and respect for wildlife and wild places. Racine Zoo summer camp offers all campers a unique, hands-on opportunity to gain knowledge about animals and their environments from our Zoo conservation team and our education experts. Each camp will include a T-shirt, daily snack, up-close animal encounters, games, crafts, special tours and so much more. From old favorites like Zoovengers and Animal Outlaws, Super Sleuths, Fossils, & Mysteries, and Animal Olympics to new themes like Animal Patrol, Gonna Go Wild, and Magical Menagerie, children are sure to have an amazing week and come home with new crazy animal facts and crafts every night.
“Summer camp is a fantastic opportunity for kids to take a deep dive into conservation education,” says Aszya Summers, Conservation Education Manager at the Racine Zoo. “By having a full week to explore a topic, we are able to build a bond with our campers and build a deep love and understanding for the natural world. Plus, what is more fun than coming to the zoo every day and spending time with our animals?”
