Sturtevant Man Sentenced In Wisconsin Meth Conspiracy Case: DOJ

A man from Sturtevant was among the three people sentenced in a drug conspiracy case that brought 20 pounds of meth into Wisconsin, AG said.

MADISON, WI — A Sturtevant man was among three people recently sentenced for a drug conspiracy case in Wood County that brought over 20 pounds of methamphetamine into Wisconsin in 2018, Attorney General Josh Kaul announced in a news release Tuesday.

Darryl Matthews, 39, of Sturtevant, was sentenced to nine years of confinement and eight years of extended supervision after he was convicted of conspiracy to commit possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine greater than fifty grams and false imprisonment, according to the news release.

According to the news release, the criminal complaint outlines additional false imprisonment and aggravated battery crimes during a drug conspiracy that brought meth from Arizona to Wisconsin over a nine-month period beginning in March 2018.

“Meth is a dangerous and highly addictive drug that destroys lives,” said Attorney General Kaul in the news release. “Thank you to the investigators and prosecutors whose work ensured that the defendants were convicted and sentenced for these serious crimes.”

Dawn Jung, 28 of Wisconsin Rapids, and Arnold Ksionek, age 55, of Wisconsin Rapids, were also sentenced in the case. Jung was sentenced to 9 years of initial confinement and 7 years of extended supervision while Ksionek was sentenced to 6 years of initial confinement and 5 years of extended supervision, the news release said.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation led the investigation with assistance from Wisconsin Rapids and Grand Rapids police departments, the Wood County Sheriff's Office, Wisconsin State Patrol, North Central HIDTA, and the Central Wisconsin Drug Task Force.
