Muskego Lions Club Awards Scholarships

The Muskego Lions club has awarded two Robert Kreuser/David Salentine Post Secondary Scholarships to Muskego area seniors.  Robert Kreuser was a life long Muskego resident, respected teacher, principal, and superintendent for the Muskego-Norway School District.  David Salentine was a life long Muskego resident, respected teacher, coach, and administrator for the Muskego-Norway School District.  Both men were valued and honored members of the Muskego Lions Club.Abigail Schilz and Nicholas Tretow, seniors at Muskego High School, each received the Muskego Lions Club Robert Kreuser/David Salentine Collegiate Scholarship in the amount of $750.Abigail Schilz will be attending the University of Wisconsin - Madison with plans to pursue a career in Mathematics/Statistics.  In addition to her academic accomplishments, Abigail is an active student at MHS involved in cross country and track, serving on student council, and tutors students after school.  She is a member of the National Honor Society and the Mu Alpha Theta Math Society.  Abigail shows her creative side through her dedicated involvement with the MHS music program.  Out in the community Abigail has volunteered at Safety City, Special Olympics and the New Berlin Lions corn roast.  At St. Leonard's Church Abigail has been actively involved in mission trips and Labor of Love.  In reflecting on her volunteer experiences and those she has interacted with Abigail states "I hope I made a difference in their lives.  They have definitely made a difference in mine.  When I look back at this part of my life I doubt if I will remember tests I took or clothes I wore.  I will remember these people.  They are a part of my story."Nicholas Tretow will be attending the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities with plans to pursue a degree in Microbiology with a goal to become an orthopedic surgeon.  In addition to his academic accomplishments, Nicholas is an active student at MHS involved with football, swimming & diving, and track & field.  Nicholas also is a member of the student council, National Honor Society, serving as vice-president for both clubs, and a member of the Mu Alpha Theta Math Society.  In the Muskego community Nicholas has earned the distinction of being an Eagle Scout, as well as volunteering time with the Special Olympics and the Muskego Food Pantry.  At St. Leonard's Church Nicholas is actively involved in mission trips and serves as an usher.  Nicholas states that "My greatest desire in life is to provide aid to those who are in need of medical attention, and to build strong relationships with my patients.  To prepare myself, I have volunteered through numerous service organizations, in which I was able to assist people in need.  In the future I will have the opportunity to continue my involvement in the surrounding communities in which I work."We congratulate both of these young people on their accomplishments, and thank all of the Muskego are seniors who applied for our scholarship.We wish the senior classes of 2012 the best in their future endeavors!
