Assembly Forum Between Craig, Brownlow is Set

David Craig and Jim Brownlow will be on the ballot May 3, and this will be their only public forum.

Muskego and other communities in the 83rd Assembly district are holding a special election May 3 to choose a new representative.

Two candidates—David Craig and Jim Brownlow—have thrown their hats in the ring to vie for the seat, vacated in January when Scott Gunderson was appointed to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.

To get a better glimpse of the candidates, the Muskego Teen Advisory Board is hosting a forum on Thursday, April 28 at 6 p.m. in the Alderman's Room at City Hall, S182 W8200 Racine Ave.  The format will be moderated by Chris Buckmaster and will be set up similar to the mayoral and aldermanic forums that were held in March.

Craig, a Republican, has had previous experience as a staffer with Congressman Paul Ryan's office.  Jim Brownlow, a Democrat, is a former librarian in the Muskego-Norway School District.

Each has expressed concern about voter turnout, as it is a stand-alone election, and the contentiousness of the April elections may have voters fatigued.  In addition, Muskego will hold this election in one polling place only, at City Hall.

Signs have been posted at City Hall, and were posted at the polling places in April to advise voters of this election and the change in venue for many.
