City Has Shot at Purchasing Boxhorn Boat Launch

The city may have an opportunity to purchase the public boat launch for , according to Craig Anderson, Parks and Recreation Director.

Anderson informed the Parks and Rec. Board at its meeting Monday night that the launch’s owners are interested in selling it.

Currently, Anderson noted, the city leases the launch for $2,700-2,800 per month, with a 3% increase each year. He pointed out that it would be a lot cheaper over the course of the long haul to purchase it outright if the opportunity arises.

Anderson pointed out that, should the city pursue this, it would have to pay for two appraisals, which he estimated to cost between $15,000-$18,000.

The Board unanimously voted to pursue this and to send the Common Council a positive recommendation.

The launch is located at S90 W13960 Boxhorn Drive.
