CITY MALL: Elliott’s Ace Hardware Set To Open This Week

New, bigger store ready to open in booming business corridor on Moorland Road in Muskego.

With new chalk lines still visible on its freshly paved parking lot and the aisles ready to be stocked, the new Elliott’s Ace Hardware store is almost open for business in Muskego.

If all goes according to plan, the store will move from its New Berlin location on Janesville Road to its new location next to Wal Mart on Moorland Road on Thursday, May 19, 2011, said owner Stew Elliott Jr. in an interview.

The new store is “bigger, carries more products, and offers things you couldn’t find in Muskego before,” said Elliott, who owns the store with his brother, Matt.

Along with a larger Outdoor Living & Lawn and Garden area, the store will offer a wider selection of housewares, hardware, and other items including Craftsman tools, the Sears’ trademark name exclusive to Ace Hardware, Elliott said.

The brothers also own stores in Elm Grove, West Allis, and Pewaukee that offer a wider range of choices similar to those in the new Muskego store.

“We needed more room,” said Elliott, who defines the hardware store’s niche as “fix-it” products and services compared to “project “ stores like Menards and Home Depot.

The business is moving to Moorland Road because it is becoming a “very, very popular shopping corridor,” Elliott said.  “As a business, we have better access to customer traffic than on Janesville Road.  We hope to grow and hire additional people as we grow,” he said.

The store’s hours will be Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturdays through July from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Patch readers can contact the store at (414) 422-9344 when they open later this week.
