The Aging and Disability Resource Center of Waukesha County (ADRC) will hold its annual Family Caregiver Seminar on Wednesday, May 2 at the Retzer Nature Center. The seminar is funded by the Older Americans Act Title IIIE.
This year's theme is "Caregiving: To the Future and Beyond." Andrew Isham , Engineer from the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Center for Health Enhancement System Studies (CHESS) will discuss how researchers are developing information technology services to help the elderly in their homes and improve the lives of caregivers. This seminar will also present opportunities to experience a variety of venues first hand that both caregiver and care receiver can experience together and help prevent isolation.
Jody Krainer, Director of Senior Services at the Milwaukee Center for Independence, will discuss the different levels of isolation that often happen in a caregiving role. Throughout the seminar, participants will learn how to connect to their community.

Other seminar activities include exhibitors, learning a creative story-telling program, “TimeSlips”, exploring the Galileo planetarium show with Director Dave DeRemer, from the Charles Z. Horwitz Planetarium. Naturalist Larry Kascht will guide participants on a handicapped accessible nature trail.
The seminar runs from 9:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. The cost to attend is a $15.00 donation that includes presentations, lunch and resources. For more information about the seminar or to register, please call the ADRC at (262) 548-7848.
