Homes on Durham Drive Will be Patched in to City Sewer

The Common Council is expected to pass the resolution to start construction on sanitary sewer line.

Muskego residents who live on Durham Drive between McShane Drive and South North Cape Road will soon have two major projects with which to contend after the Common Council on Tues., Feb. 22 approves a resolution to begin construction of sanitary sewer.

Total costs of the project are estimated at about $800,000, but according to the Jan. 25 letter mailed to Durham Drive residents, costs might have been higher if the city wasn't undertaking the sewer issue at the same time the road is being restored.

A public hearing was held during the last council meeting on Feb. 8, but the call for input went unanswered.

In that same letter, residents were informed of their assessment estimate. Numbers range from just over $10,000 to about $23,000, depending on the frontage of each property. Residents have the option of having their assessment added to their annual tax bills for the next ten years.

They also have the opportunity to apply for hardship status, which could qualify residents for a different payment plan. Applications for hardship status must be received by Sept. 1, 2011, and a determination must be received by Oct. 1, 2011.
