Lazich Speaks at Muskego National Day of Prayer Ceremony

State Senator Mary Lazich expresses her gratitude to the group for their prayers.

The group that assembled for the National Day of Prayer observance at Muskego City Hall welcomed with a standing ovation State Senator Mary Lazich, who thanked them for their prayers.

"There's no doubt that the power of prayer helped us through the 'Capitol Chaos' of the previous months," Lazich explained.

"The media portrayed this as peaceful protest, but it was anything but peaceful.  It was difficult to navigate the hallways of the capitol, we were truly out numbered and it became a very threatening situation," she told the crowd.

She explained how police had to strategize to move lawmakers in and out of the capitol, often maneuvering them through underground passages to safely take them to their vehicles.

"I've gone to a new plane, a new appreciation for the power of prayer after that experience," she said. "I won't be shy about taking your prayers."

"I don't have words to describe it, and I'm finding God in other people. There's no doubt in my mind that it was the power of your prayers that got us through it. I'm here tonight therefore to thank you for your prayers and the need you to pray for lawmakers," Lazich explained.

She stated that despite the scary circumstances, she felt a "greater resolve to hear everyone, no matter if I agree with them, and to pray for all of the people I've been elected to represent."
