Library Board Recommends Hiring One Part-time Librarian
Board also elects new officers and approves summer hours for the Library.

At Wednesday night's Library Board meeting, the Board held elections for officers, including re-electing Kim Huebner as President and Josephine DeVito- Scalzo as Vice President, as well as electing Aaron Robertson to the treasurer's post. He succeeds Board member Ron Rivard as Treasurer. Rivard, who is currently principal at Tess Corners Elementary School, is leaving the Muskego-Norway School District at the end of June to take a position in the Waterford School District.
For now, the position of Secretary is vacant.
Also during the meeting, the Board voted to recommend the hiring of one part-time Librarian 1 position. Board member Joseph Boschert was the only member to voted against the recommendation.

Currently, there are two part-time positions and one full-time position that are unfilled. But for the meantime, Library Director Jane Genzel is only seeking to fill one of the part-time positions.
The Board’s recommendation will go back to the city’s Finance Committee, which had earlier this week deferred a decision to the Library Board.

The Board also approved summer hours of operation for the Library. From June through August, the Library will close one hour earlier on weekdays (8pm instead of the usual 9pm) and four hours early on Saturdays (1pm as opposed to 5pm).
These hours of operation, a request made to the Board by Genzel, are meant to better utilize Library staff during times where traffic tends to be at its highest during the summer months. In a memo to Board members, Genzel noted that traffic tends to be at its highest levels during weekday mornings and dies down significantly by 8:00pm. On Saturdays, traffic is greatly reduced by 1:00pm.
Genzel stated during the meeting that this is the first time the Library is experimenting with summer hours.
