Loan Request Approved, Muskego Auto Body Shop Can Move Forward

The CDA okays its first request for a low-interest loan tied to the Janesville Road reconstruction, with Young's Auto Body set to rebuild a shop right behind the one that will be leveled during the project.

The Community Development Authority (CDA) met Tuesday night, and approved the request from for a $25,000 loan to supplement a $494,000 plan for building a new shop.

Jeff Muenkel with the city's planning department said the owners were hoping to break ground on the new facility, which will be much larger and include an auto paint booth, before the first frost.  As the Janesville Road construction will not impact the western half of the downtown area until 2013, he said the timing will also give Young's a head start without interrupting business, as the existing building will be eliminated with the widening of the road.

The CDA voted unanimously to approve the recommendation, and a final vote will be taken up with the Common Council as early as next week.
