Looking for Community-based Youth Mentors!
Volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Milwaukee
Are you looking for a volunteer experience with a meaningful impact? Become a Big Brother, Big Sister, or a Big Couple to a youth in Milwaukee or Waukesha County. In our Community-based Mentoring Program, you meet with a child three to four times a month. You can shoot hoops, help with homework, or visit a local museum together – you and the child decide what to do and when to meet. We also have over 80 planned and staffed events free for you and your Little to participate in.
Children in our one-to-one mentoring relationships improve in school, avoid risky and delinquent behaviors, achieve higher self-esteem, and have stronger relationships with their parents and others.
In 2014, youth in our program achieved the following outcomes:
• 79% improved educational expectations
• 70% improved attitudes towards risky behavior
• 81% improved social skills like higher aspirations, greater confidence, and better relationships
