Muskego Parks and Rec Works to Make Trails ADA Compliant

Board meeting covers the need to make trails more accessible for all.

The Department of Justice issued new rules regarding Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance as it pertains to trails and other shared-use paths.

Muskego currently has more than 30 miles of trails, so the Parks and Recreation Board is reconsidering present regulations on those trails to make sure they don't conflict with the new DOJ rules.

The rules seek to better accommodate those with disabilities on these public trails and pathways.  The Board took initial steps Monday night and approved allowing the use of mobility devices that are no larger than 32 inches in width and go no more than five miles per hour.
