Muskego Parks & Rec Progress Report on Park Arthur, Water Bugs and Movies

Topography of park is taking shape, and the news is good as the season closes on the Water Bugs and Movies in the Park.

As graders have been working on the site that will become Park Arthur along Muskego's northern border, Director of Parks and Recreation Craig Anderson said the work has produced 'phenomenal' sledding hills.

"This will undoubtedly give the park year-round use, and provides three different slopes for sledding," he said at the Monday night meeting of the Park Board.

Paving to further complete entry points into the park was started Tuesday, which raised some concerns that it might encourage vandals looking to 'off road' their vehicles at the site.  However, Anderson said plans always start with paving of roadways and at least partial parking areas.

In addition, Anderson reported that for June, July and August he had received no complaints of noise during Water Bugs performances.  It was thought that a change in announcers and attention to volume had helped to remedy the situation with lake home owners in the immediate area.

The 'Movies in the Park' featured in July and August this year were also a hit according to Anderson.  He said that the first movie brought out about 175 attendees, and the second movie, which combined a cook out for all 'get out and play' program families topped out at 250.

"This represents the biggest attendance thus far for this program, which is encouraging," Anderson said.
