Muskego Public Works Recommends Design Firm for Tess Corners Drive Reconstruction

Same firm that has been in charge of Durham Drive selected unanimously by committee

The Public Works Committee met Monday night to discuss the results of bids on engineering and design for reconstruction of Tess Corners Drive between Janesville Road and Woods Road.

"It's in desperate need of reconstruction," said Dave Simpson, City Planner. "Tess Corners has made it to the top of the list, after Durham Drive.  The quick time frame it will take to repair the road is also good considering the rate of deterioration we're seeing on it."

Seven firms had been consulted to gather quotes, and a review team had scored each prior to knowing the firms' costs.

Simpson said the three top firms - Foth, Ruekert-Milke and Ayres & Associates provided the best costs overall.

Foth had scored highest, and was ultimately selected by the committee.  The $92,700 price tag was higher by nearly $16,000 than Ruekert-Mielke (R-M), but as Simpson pointed out the amount of hours they budgeted reflected 300 more than R-M.

"That says to me that they know what we require in our projects," he said.

Director of Public Works Wayne Delikat also endorsed Foth, saying, "they've been really good to work with on Durham.  They're very responsive."

Tess Corners will be targeted for a spring start in 2012, and will not be as extensive as the Durham Drive project, where infrastructure like water and sewers were involved prior to actual road reconstruction.
