Public Hearing Will Address Potential Increase in Assessments
Durham Drive sewer costs could potentially impact residents pay-in by as much as 40 percent

Property owners along Durham Drive who are expecting a special assessment for sewer work have been notified of a public hearing this coming Tuesday, April 12 to address higher-than-estimated costs. The impact to their contribution on the project could be $46, 518.88 cumulatively.
There are 13 residences that will be impacted according to the information sent from the City Engineering Division, and by ordinance any change to special assessments will require a public hearing before the increase can be approved. The letter also explained "the City's increased contribution to the project will be $189,743.26."
The increase came as costs to de-water the soil were higher than estimated, but Noah Fiedler, Chairman of Public Works Committee had stated that the sewer project made sense to do now while the road was planned for reconstruction rather than coming back to do the project after the fact.
