Readers Write: A Letter to Muskego Voters

Dear Patch Readers and Voters:

Thank you so much for taking time to listen to me during the weeks leading up to the April 5th election.  It has been an inspirational road for me, and I learned a lot about what’s important to you.

There has never been a more critical time to stay informed and involved in government.  I encourage you to watch City Council meetings on cable Channel 14 or attend them every other Tuesday at City Hall.  The American lifestyle is changing rapidly, and nowhere is it more evident than in the daily workings of local government. 

Don’t let the City evolve without you.  You deserve a voice in shaping what Muskego looks like in the future.  Don’t let the qualities you love about living here slip away. If you are unhappy with how things are going, get involved. Write, email, and speak your views.  Your alderman is your public servant and should represent you.

There is great satisfaction in making Muskego a better place to be.  If you see work to be done, volunteer.  Charitable work by individuals, church groups and lay organizations will grow more important as state and federal budgets continue to shrink.  Whether we bring our children to visit the elderly or donate time, food and money to the Muskego Food Pantry, it is up to us to share our resources within our community. 

This is our Muskego.  It is a beautiful place that should be carefully shaped – not exploited – as a respite from dense urban populations and pressures.  It will take all of us to preserve the quality of life here.  It will take all of us to believe Muskego can be the City of our dreams…and to find fresh solutions to achieve them.
