A resident takes issue with statements made on efforts to retain business in Muskego

Dear Editor:
I would like to point out two false statements made by Luke Hudock, in the recent candidate forum. He stated that neither the Chamber of Commerce nor the city worked to help maintain a local business, Twins Floral, which was being impacted by the Janesville Road reconstruction. I work part time at the Chamber with Mayoral Candidate Kathy Chiaverotti and was witness to the fact that Kathy Chiaverotti worked diligently to help Twins find a new location within Muskego. However, the owners felt that the inventory of existing property did not fit their needs.
Another false statement made by Hudock is that Muskego has lost more businesses than it has gained. The Chamber maintains a database of local businesses. This database proves the fact that we have at very least maintained our business base. Some things are simply out of the Chamber's or Muskego's control, in particular, the economy. Commercial property values have dropped more substantially than those of residential causing it to appear that Muskego has less businesses.

Perhaps Mr. Hudock should check his information more carefully before making statements which are untrue. Kathy Chiaverotti sincerely cares about Muskego's businesses and citizens while having both the knowledge and experience needed as our next mayor.
