St. Leonard Girls Take BBall Championship
Besting a field of 24 teams, the St. Leonard girls basketball team takes home the Padre Serra tournament championship
On Sunday, March 24, the 8th grade girls basketball team from St. Leonard in Muskego won the coveted Padre Serra championship by beating St. John Vianney of Brookfield.
Just one of 24 teams from the Archdiocese of Milwaukee to be invited to the tournament, St. Leonard overcame a 12-point deficit at halftime to close in on St. John Vianney to 34-33 with seconds left in the game. That's when Taylor Simkowski launched and sank a 25-foot shot.
St. Leonard also won the tournament in 2006 and 2005.
