Tess Corners OTM Team Wins World, Now Has to Get There

Jennifer Gregory has no doubt her Odyssey of the Mind Team has a place at the world competition in Baltimore, MD.

"Our team did an excellent job and all of the parents are so very proud of their hard work, our team is the only elementary school attending from Muskego," Gregory said.  "We are especially proud because they recieved the Ranatra Fusca Creativity Award, for demonstrating an outstanding level of creativity. This award is unique because it is not awarded every year and only to one team which also has to be a nominated by a judge of the competition. It comes with an invitation to the world competition."

Team "Megga Egga" as the grade schoolers are called, actually received two invitations to world, one by way of the Renata Fusca, and the other for their performance of their long term problem and spontaneous problem.

Now the challenge is getting there.

"It really is amazing, all the planning that goes into the event. Our team alone is doing several fundraisers to support the cost," Gregory explained. "We just started Kringle sales and are hosting a movie at showtime in Franklin and then Mothers day weekend we are selling flowers at Jetz."

Gregory also said, "with the price of gas being so high we need all the help we can get. Flying just doesn't work with a large family like ours, we have four children, so we will just plan accordingly."

In the meantime, the team will do what it does best: problem-solving.  Gregory is just excited for what awaits them in May in the meantime.

"The opening ceremony is on Friday evening, I hear it is amazing, like the olympics. Teams have activities and a popular thing is pin trading, Wisconsin also has a hat as do many of the other states, ours is a cow... hats are also traded."
