Upgraded Dispatch System Plays a Part in Catching Drunk Driver
Shortly after an official unveiling of the wireless 911 dispatch abilities, a real-life demonstration catches a second-time drunk driver

Just last week Tuesday, Captain John Latour had used a hypothetical example of a 9-1-1 caller reporting a drunk driver in allowing the Muskego Police Department's new system to be able pinpoint where the call was coming from.
In a real-life demonstration, a 9-1-1 call came into the center from an Illinois man on March 20. He reported observing another driver who had appeared to be intoxicated. The call allowed dispatchers to confirm the location of the incident on the map, and led to the arrest of a 52 year old Big Bend man. He was cited for a second drunk driving offense near the intersection of Denoon Rd and Crowbar Rd.
Lieutenant David Constantineau confirmed that these types of calls, especially when they may come from people outside of the area and who may not be able to give police an exact location if they are unfamiliar, are now better able to be handled with the new system.

"Certainly, when our staff can see on the screen where these 9-1-1 calls are originating from, it makes our response that much better," he said.
