VIDEO: Johnson Says Farewell and Thanks

Retiring mayor expresses his appreciation to the city as he leaves a job he loved 'for the most part.'

Mayor John Johnson handed over the gavel to incoming mayor Kathy Chiaverotti Tuesday night and took the opportunity to thank his supporters, "and even the people who didn't vote for me."

Acknowledging his wife and family, who he said had presided over not one, but two retirement decisions (first as Police Chief, and now), Johnson also thanked residents, employees and the Common Council in his remarks.

The council for their part were complimentary of Johnson, with District 7 Alderman Noah Fiedler stating that "we've had some great leadership at the helm, and it's been my honor both professionally as well as personally to get to know him and work with him."
