13th Street Re-Opens To Two-Way Traffic In Oak Creek

The project area was a stretch of 13th Street between Rawson and Drexel Avenues.

OAK CREEK, WI -- After months of orange construction barrels and lengthy traffic delays, the 13th Street construction project has finally re-opened to two-way traffic.

The project area was a stretch of 13th Street between Rawson and Drexel Avenues.

According to a WTMJ report earlier in December, Caledonia-based Cornerstone USA fell behind on the project in Oak Creek, as well as others in Racine and West Allis, and had been paying $2,000 a day in fines related to delays in the West Allis road project.

In Oak Creek, slow progress on road construction at S. 13th Street (CTH V) between W. Drexel Ave and W. Rawson Ave. in late 2018 forced state officials say they understood the problems it created.

"We appreciate your continued patience and cooperation during the construction inconveniences caused by the project being significantly behind schedule," Department of Transportation officials said in December. "Please be assured that the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the administrative agency of the project, is holding the contractor accountable for not finishing the project on time."
