OAK CREEK, WI — Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin announced on Monday its new 24/7 community hospital in Oak Creek is now open.

The 17,000 square feet facility, located at 7901 6th Street, will be open to provide access to emergency and inpatient care, according to a news release from Froedtert. The hospital, an expansion of the existing Froedtert facilities in Drexel Town Square, has a seven-bed emergency department with 8 inpatient beds for people who require additional care, observation or tests.

The hospital was designed to treat medical emergencies that require care beyond a health center or urgent care clinic's capabilities, according to the news release, and it complements the current offerings at the existing Froedtert and MCW Drexel Town Square Health Center.

Emergency physicians and registered nurses staff Froedtert's emergency hospitals, including the new one in Oak Creek, which is expected to employ about 40 people full-time and part time.
