Vehicle Break-In Suspect Flashed Gun At Homeowner: Report

OAK CREEK, WI -- As Oak Creek police investigate a rash of vehicle break-ins that started as soon as the weather started getting nicer comes news of one brazen attempt that happened while the vehicle owner was home.
It's not the first time vehicle break-in artists were on the job on Verdev. One vigilant homeowner caught one such suspect in the act in broad daylight in early May. You can read more about that case here - and see the video.
Police in Oak Creek say a homeowner reported a vehicle break in on May 28, but that one of the suspects flashed a gun at the homeowner while trying to rifle through his unlocked car parked in the garage.

According to Oak Creek police call logs, officers responded to a home on the 8100 block of S. Verdev Drive on a report of another vehicle break-in just before 7 p.m.
Police say a homeowner left his garage door open that evening, and had gone inside when he heard a noise coming from inside the garage. He told police he went to investigate. When he went to the garage, he reportedly saw two men - one inside each of the two vehicles that were parked inside.

According to police call logs, once the homeowner yelled at them, one man - described as being a man in his early 20s with a thin build - took off running. Another man, also in his early 20s with a heavier build, reportedly pulled a gun and displayed it in front of the homeowner without pointing it at him before he also ran off.
According to police call logs, the men retreated to a black Toyota sedan and fled the scene north on Verdev Drive. Police canvassed the area, and said one eyewitness saw two men running along Verdev in the opposite direction.
