Street Closures For Move Of Historic Synagogue: Traffic Advisory

The DDOT said it is enforcing rolling closures to accommodate the relocation of a historic synagogue.

From DDOT: The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) has issued permits for rolling road closures to accommodate the final relocation of the historic Adas Israel Synagogue to 3rd and F Streets, NW on Wednesday, January 9 starting at 9:30 a.m. All roads are expected to reopen no later than 8:00 p.m.

The building will move from its storage location at the corner of 3rd & G Street, NW where it has been for the past year and a half as construction of the Capitol Crossing mixed-use development continues.

Traffic controls will be in place for the rolling closure to detour drivers approaching 3rd Street. Traffic will move freely until the rolling closure passes affected streets and intersections.

During the closure, vehicles wishing to access 3rd Street southbound, east or westbound of H Street and westbound Massachusetts Avenue, will be directed to travel southbound on 4th Street and onto 3rd Street via E Street.

Motorists and pedestrians should anticipate moderate-to-heavy delays and are advised to stay alert while traveling through these areas.
