The name of Microsoft's AI data center network (jsonline.com) — Microsoft’s Fairwater AI data centers in Mount Pleasant are projected to draw millions of gallons of Lake Michigan water supplied by the City of Racine, with most but not all returned. The company touts closed-loop cooling, while environmental advocates urge stronger transparency, safeguards, and long-term protection of regional water resources as more data centers are built.

2. RUSD breaks ground on $21 million Walden III renovation project (racinecountyeye.com) — Racine Unified and city officials have broken ground on a $21.3 million renovation of Walden III that will add ADA access, air conditioning, safer entrances, and modernized learning spaces. Funded through the narrow 2020 referendum, construction starts June 15 with completion expected in summer 2027, bringing long-awaited upgrades for Racine students and staff.

3. Racine student selected as one of 100 juniors nationwide for prestigious LEDA college access program (tmj4.com) — A Racine Unified junior from The R.E.A.L. School has been chosen as one of just 100 students nationwide for the LEDA Scholars college access program, earning a five‑week summer experience at Princeton and Yale. He and his teacher hope the honor inspires other Racine and southeastern Wisconsin students to seize similar opportunities and aim for top universities.

Racine Zoo says goodbye to longtime Rhino Timu (wtmj.com) — Racine Zoo has transferred its longtime Eastern Black Rhino, Timu, to another accredited zoo to support a critical breeding and conservation program. Staff helped prepare her move with special training and care, and while many Racine visitors will miss her, the change is meant to strengthen the endangered species’ long‑term survival in zoos.
