Roundabout Rhinelander: Construction begins as part of Highway 8 project (waow.com) — Drivers in Rhinelander will see major changes on Highway 8 as work begins to replace traffic lights with single-lane roundabouts at WIS 17 South and County Road G, along with new pavement. Detours via Highway 47/8 and Lincoln Street resurfacing will keep traffic moving, with completion expected in early September if weather cooperates.

Rhinelander students excited for new equipment to explore trades like woodworking, welding (wjfw.com) — Rhinelander’s James Williams Middle School just unveiled major new tech ed spaces funded by a recent school referendum, giving students access to 3D printers, laser cutters, and welding bays. District leaders say the upgrades, including revamped family consumer science, art, and music rooms, will help Rhinelander students explore trades earlier and better prepare for future careers.

Rhinelander artist selected for first cohort of new Create Wisconsin grant program (wxpr.org) — Rhinelander multimedia artist Nate Sheppard has won a Create Wisconsin grant to build an immersive projection-mapped art experience right here in town, at the Hilgermann Center for Community. Backed by $7,500 in new funding, he hopes to debut early versions this fall, bringing big-city style arts experiences to the Northwoods without the long drive.

RHS Sports recap: Tuesday, April 21 (rivernewsonline.com) — Rhinelander High School teams had a busy Tuesday, with baseball, girls’ soccer, and boys’ tennis all earning strong wins while softball fell to Mosinee and track athletes excelled at Wausau West. Local fans can look ahead to Hodag matchups against Lakeland, Antigo, and a trip to the De Pere Invite and Northland Pines Eagle Relays later this week.
