• July 4th travel: WisDOT shares safety tips for busy Wisconsin roads (fox6now.com) — US 8 is fully closed in Rhinelander between WIS 47 and WIS 17 North, with traffic detoured onto several city streets including Kemp, Pelham, Courtney, and Lincoln. State transportation officials also warn of heavy July 4th traffic statewide, urging drivers to slow down in work zones, avoid phones, and plan ahead using WisDOT’s travel tools. 
• Oneida County deputy shoots, kills man wanted for child sexual assault in Rhinelander area (wsau.com) — Law enforcement officials have released more details after a 76-year-old man was fatally shot by an Oneida County deputy during a June 17 arrest attempt in the Rhinelander area. Investigators say the man fired a gun as deputies tried to arrest him on child sexual assault charges, and the state Department of Justice is now leading the review.
• Cecelia "Cis" Baker Obituary (wausaupilotandreview.com) — Rhinelander is mourning Cecelia “Cis” Baker, an 81-year-old retired teacher, coach, and accomplished golfer who died June 20 after a long battle with lung disease. Visitation and funeral will be held Wednesday, July 8 at Trinity Lutheran Church on Stevens Street, with memorials suggested to the Rhinelander Area Food Pantry or Northwoods Alliance for Temporary Housing.
