Amazon's groundbreaking event on new Sheboygan distribution center to bring more than 200 jobs (tmj4.com) — Amazon has broken ground on a new 200,000-square-foot distribution center in Sheboygan's Southpointe Enterprise Campus, expected to bring more than 200 full-time jobs and faster deliveries by 2027. At the ceremony, the company also donated $10,000 to Boys and Girls Clubs of Sheboygan County, which leaders hope will grow into a long-term partnership.
2. American Patriot cruise visits generate about $63K in economic impact (sheboyganpress.com) — Cruise ship visits to Sheboygan this summer brought an estimated $62,805 in economic impact, as American Patriot passengers explored local attractions like the John Michael Kohler Arts Center and 3 Sheeps Brewing. Even better for residents and businesses, six more Lake Michigan and Upper Peninsula cruise stops are already scheduled to bring visitors back to Sheboygan in 2027.
3. Tommie Dixon to appeal Sheboygan officer-involved shooting conviction (sheboyganpress.com) — A Sheboygan man convicted in a 2024 officer-involved shooting is moving to appeal his attempted first-degree intentional homicide conviction and related charges in Sheboygan County Circuit Court. He's serving nearly 40 years after a jury found he disarmed a city officer with intent to shoot another, while both officers and Dixon's family described lasting impacts during sentencing.
4. Therapeutic day school expanding to Sheboygan in September (thenorthwestern.com) — Families in Sheboygan will soon have a new option for students who struggle in traditional classrooms, as The Richardson School opens a therapeutic day school campus in the city this September. Serving ages 5 to 21 with emotional, neurological, and developmental disabilities, the new site aims to keep specialized services closer to home and expand access to its Bobcat Camp program.
5. Helen Maurer (whbl.com) — Longtime Sheboygan and Sheboygan Falls resident Helen Maurer, 94, has passed away, leaving a legacy of family devotion, community volunteering, and deep faith. A memorial Mass will be held at Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls on Friday, Sept. 11, offering friends and neighbors a chance to honor her life and support her family.
