According to his criminal complaint, Flowers was at a family gathering Satruday when he got into a confrontation with the child's mother, took his son, Sean Flowers III, and exited the apartment - which is surrounded on all sides by a pond. Robert Amstadt witnessed "the most evil thing I've seen" from his apartment window Saturday when a young father holding his crying infant son walked into a pond and sat down so the water was up to his chest and the baby could not be seen.
"That baby cried all the way out into the water," Amstadt said. "Then the crying stopped."

At 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, friends and family planned to gather near the pond on N. 75th Street on Milwaukee's far northwest to remember Sean Flowers III.

Rescue Was Too Late
Officers urgently responded to the incident, inadvertently ingesting pond water as they rushed into the water to take the father into custody and locate the baby boy. By then, it was too late. As Flowers walked into the pond water with his son, eyewitnesses reportedly tried saving the boy from his father. According to eyewitness reports, one person managed to free the baby from his father before the father took him back, heading into deeper waters.
Officers located the unconscious infant within minutes along with fellow first responders and began life-saving measures. Unfortunately the infant was unable to be revived and died at the scene.
