• Former West Allis school to be converted into affordable apartments (jsonline.com) — A proposed 19-unit affordable apartment building called The Oakleaf at 4450 N. Oakland Ave. in Shorewood would receive a $950,000 federal grant under a Milwaukee County funding plan. The project, which replaces a 49-space village-owned parking lot, is drawing local opposition and still needs county and other approvals, alongside several other affordable housing developments in West Allis and Milwaukee.
