Today is a culmination of political activity when the electorate makes the final decision as to the political future fro the next two to four years. Although it isn’t any secret of my political leanings, I do respect those that don’t support my views and I hope they respect me in turn. However, as of late, I have been the target of some rather nasty attacks.
The attacks haven’t been on my views, but directed at me personally. I have chosen not to directly respond to them, as I don’t want to encourage the author by acknowledging them. I have noticed that no more do they appear that they are soon deleted by someone. Even though these crude comments are directed at me and my family, I think that the perpetrator has a right to make them and to receive whatever consequence that may arise.
In my own comments I attempt to reduce the negative personalization and focus on the points of the argument. Now I am not naive enough to believe that my comments and responses are entirely free of all negatives, but I do attempt to rein it in and use a self imposed standard of decency; do I or would I feel comfortable for my grand kids to read what I have written.

I am not sure how one gets someone else’s comments deleted. I had assumed that if you flag a comment that an editor somewhere looks at it and then makes the decision whether to delete or not. Is it possible that by flagging it automatically deletes it? If someone knows how it works, please let me know.
