Shorewood's Latest Burglary Case is on Farwell

The burglary occurred sometime between 10:40 am and 11:20 am on January 18, 2017.

SHOREWOOD, WI — The Shorewood Police Department is investigating a reported residential burglary in the 4200 Block of N. Farwell Ave. The burglary occurred sometime between 10:40 am and 11:20 am on January 18, 2017. A cell phone and two cameras were reported to have been taken. The investigation is ongoing at this time.

Police Working With Neighbors to Solve Crimes

Police in Shorewood are working with neighboring municipalities to combat a burglary wave that has hit the area. Police believe the suspects in these burglaries are targeting homes that appear to be unoccupied.

The Shorewood Police Department is investigating a residential burglary in the 4100 Block of N. Newhall St. after a suspect or suspects made entry to the residence through the rear door of the residence.

According to police, the burglary occurred sometime between 4:00 pm on January 4, 2017, and 1:00 pm on January 7, 2017.

Electronics and a small safe were taken from the residence. Shorewood police believe the suspects involved in the recent burglaries in the area are targeting homes that do not show signs of occupancy at the time of burglary, for example:

  • No lights on during hours of darkness
  • Mail visible in the mailbox
  • Packages left outside the entry to the home
  • No movement inside the home

The Shorewood Police Department is coordinating with surrounding jurisdictions that have had similar incidents recently and have identified possible suspects in these cases. We will continue to work with these other jurisdictions to locate and apprehend these individuals.

Earlier, Patch reported that Shorewood police are contending with a rash of burglaries on private property in the village. Here are the two most recent incidents reported by police:

New Year's Basement Burglary
Police investigated an apartment basement burglary in the 4000 Block of N. Morris Bl. At 11:07 p.m. on 01/01/16, an apartment resident observed a black male, heavy set, 6'02", bald, wearing a dark hoodie-style sweatshirt exit the laundry area of the basement with prying tools protruding from his pocket.
Damage was found to the basement entrance and a coin operated laundry machine. Nothing of value was obtained.

Trespassing on Kensington
Police investigated a trespassing and criminal damage to property incident in the 2200 block of E. Kensington Blvd. An unknown actor(s) trespassed on the property and caused damage to the exterior front door.
There is no indication that the actor(s) made entry into the residence and no items were taken. The incident occurred sometime between 10:45 pm on December 30, 2016, and 6:40 am on December 31, 2016.
