Spammy Tammy Double Whammy: A Journey into the Heart of Spam Mania.
or- 'What the Hale is Going on Around Here???

Hale-Patch rarely gets a mention in the press it seems. So when I saw this I thought I’d pass it along...

I’m not exactly sure what to make of it, but it does appear that this is the kind of stuff (aka, “spammy posts”) Warren St. John, Hale-Patch EIC, claimed they were trying to get rid of. Or maybe not. Who knows? Do they even know?

Assuming it is, it’s apparently another example (along with the “CONSIGN W/US” postings) which demonstrates that the two week “posting hiatus” for Patch’s ghetto-dwelling unter-mensch (which we were told was necessary to allow them to address both the current and historic “spammy post” problem) not only wasn’t effective...

...but that, on the surface, appears to have had nothing to do with a spam problem, whatsoever.
So what, really, is going on around here? And by here, I mean the WI Hale-Patch sites?
Neglect. Blatant neglect. “We don’t even care enough to fix the easy stuff when it’s pointed out and makes us look stupid” neglect.
If I had to guess, I’d say daily hit counts for the vast majority of WI sites rarely get out of the two digit category. No small thanks, in part, to the complete and utter lack of any new content, local or otherwise, in the most noticeable portion of the main pages of those sites - for nearly a month. Even when presented with the option of having free, user-generated content make the sites seem at least not completely dead, they’re not interested.
And that can, really, mean only one thing. They don’t care if the WI site audiences think that Patch has become nothing more than a pile of neglected crap. Because they have no long term plans for WI, other than shutting us down. When they get around to it. “Soon”. Or not.

On a side note, two former AOL-Patch staffers (Denise Lockwood and Heather Asiyanbi) have managed to do in Racine County what others seem unable to do elsewhere - per a post in the comments associated with the article listed above. It should be noted that Denise also works with the Business Journal. Here’s a link to their site:
