• Pierce Pepin Cares Awards $4,300 in Third-Quarter Community Grants (piercecountyjournal.news) — Elderly and disabled residents in the Spring Valley and Elmwood areas will see better transportation and activity support thanks to a $1,000 Pierce Pepin Cares grant to Staying Put, Inc. The cooperative awarded $4,300 total to four groups, including safety kits for Ellsworth schools, and is already inviting nonprofits to apply for the next funding round by Sept. 15.

With a young, scrappy roster and tough matchups against Viroqua and Cadott, players say they’ve scheduled strong competition all year to prepare and keep Spring Valley an attractive destination for serious town-ball talent.
