📰 News we're reading
• WED AM News: WEDC leader warns of lasting impacts from tariff uncertainty in WI; WPF report says local officials have struck strong data center deals (wisbusiness.com) — Developers are proposing a hotel and commercial building on long-vacant sites in Sturtevant, potentially transforming underused properties into new tax base and amenities for residents. The broader report also examines how statewide data center deals, tariffs, and utility policies could affect Wisconsin communities, but the Sturtevant proposal stands out as a tangible local redevelopment opportunity.
• Federal trucking crackdown reaches Wisconsin as English-language rules tighten (wilatinonews.com) — A Sturtevant truck-driving school, Tez CDL School, has been removed from a federal training registry as regulators crack down on English-language requirements for commercial drivers. Local residents considering a CDL should know this affects where they can get federally recognized training, as Wisconsin schools face tighter oversight of instructors, records, and language rules tied to national trucking safety standards.
