2-Month Old Son Had Broken Ribs, Leg, Hand; Mom Charged: Report
Police say when doctors found that a 2-month-old boy had bone fractures, authorities accused a 22-year-old Waukesha mother of abuse.

WAUKESHA, WI — A 22-year-old Waukesha woman has been arrested and charged after authorities say she is responsible for multiple injuries to her infant child.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Waukesha County, Chelsey Zamitalo is facing two counts of physical abuse of a child after doctors learned that her two-month-old child had suffered two skull fractures, an acute fracture to the left femur, two rib fractures, a fractured right hand and a possible fractured fibula.
Authorities responded to the Waukesha Memorial Hospital on April 2 on a report of a child that had a spiral fracture to one of his femurs - an injury that doctors claimed is indicative of a traumatic incident, even abuse, according to the criminal complaint.

According to the criminal complaint, Zamitalo offered multiple stories, including telling police investigators that she fell while trying to put her infant to bed. She followed that up with saying she fell on the kitchen floor after slipping on water, causing her to land on her infant child. Zamitalo also claimed that she dropped her child in his car seat, and hit his head on the car seat bar.
Investigators continued with their questioning, in which Zamitalo said she dropped her child forcefully into his bassinet in addition to squeezing him too hard, according to the criminal complaint.

According to court records, Zamitalo faces two charges of child abuse - great harm, and could face up to 15 years behind bars.
