36-Year-Old Who Died In Crash Identified: Report

Authorities say the man was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and that alcohol may be a possible factor in the crash.

ST. CROIX COUNTY, WI -- A 36-year-old Wisconsin man is dead after authorities said the vehicle he was driving lost control early Saturday morning.

According to the St. Croix County Sheriff's office, Scott A. Gossel, 36, of Wilson, Wis., was driving his 2002 Ford F-250 truck east on Highway 12 when authorities say he lost control of his vehicle.

Authorities say Gossel's truck drove off Highway 12, entered the south ditch, struck a stop sign and a power pole. He was pronounced dead by the St. Croix County Medical Examiner. Authorities say Gossel was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, and that alcohol is a possible factor in the cause of the crash.

Gossel's death is the first traffic fatality of 2019 in St. Croix County. The crash remains under investigation by the St. Croix County Sheriff's Office and Medical Examiner's Office.
