5 Wisconsin Students Awarded National Merit Scholarships
Students from Waukesha, Brookfield, Fitchburg, Oregon and Fox Point were all honored today. Here's the list:
WAUKESHA, WI — Five high school students in Wisconsin joined 540 additional winners of National Merit Scholarships financed by colleges and universities in receiving college scholarships.
These students have now joined more than 3,500 other college-sponsored award recipients who were announced in June.
Officials of each sponsor college selected their scholarship winners from among the Finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program who will attend their institution.

College-sponsored awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of
undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship.
This year, 173 colleges and universities are sponsoring about 4,100 Merit Scholarship awards. Sponsor colleges include 95 private and 78 public institutions located in 43 states and the District of Columbia.

NATIONAL MERIT UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO SCHOLARSHIP
The University of Chicago is small, private, coeducational, and residential; it has an international reputation for distinction. NATIONAL MERIT MARQUETTE UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP
Since 1881, Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI, has offered a well-rounded curriculum in the Jesuit tradition of emphasis on the liberal arts, Christian ideals, and humanistic concern for others. Fifty undergraduate majors, 30 master's degrees, 12 doctorates, and law and dental degrees are offered through its twelve colleges, programs, and schools. NATIONAL MERIT LAWRENCE UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP
Lawrence University is a nationally recognized undergraduate college of liberal arts and sciences and conservatory of music. The university emphasizes individualized learning through a rich set of small group or single-student tutorial courses, independent study projects, studio work, and faculty-student research collaborations, all of which take advantage of a 9:1 student-to-faculty ratio.
