Accident On I-43 Snarled Waukesha Election-Day Traffic: Report
At just before 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, authorities responded to a two-vehicle crash on I-43 near Moorland Road.

WAUKESHA COUNTY, WI -- Authorities in Waukesha County say that a construction-zone accident was to blame for I-43 being shut down for several hours on Election Day.
At just before 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, authorities responded to a two-vehicle crash on I-43 near Moorland Road.
Squads arrived at the scene and found that a flatbed pickup truck pulling a trailer had rear-ended a semi-trailer in the right lane of northbound I-43. The two people inside of the pickup truck were
trapped in the vehicle and needed to be extricated by Fire Department personnel with the
assistance of A&M Towing.

Authorities said that both people inside the pickup were transported to Froedtert hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the semi-truck was uninjured, authorities say.
From their initial investigation, the Waukesha Sheriff's office says it appears that the driver of the semi-truck and other traffic were slowing for a construction area and with merging traffic up ahead, when the pickup truck rear-ended the semi-truck at high speed. The northbound lanes of I-43 was closed for several hours.
