Wixon’s Female Food Technologists Lead Workshops for Girls

Female food scientists from Wixon, a manufacturer of seasonings, flavors, and technologies for the food and beverage industry, recently led several interactive workshops during a day-long conference designed to peak girls’ interest in engineering, math, and science. Held Saturday, April 20, at the University of Wisconsin - Waukesha campus, 48 girls, ages 11-14, participated in the Girls in Engineering, Math, and Science (GEMS) event. This is the third year that Wixon has participated in the GEMS conference.

This year’s session, “The Science of Baking,” was led by Jeanne Meeder, Industrial and Consumer Products Director; AnnMarie Kraszewski, Food Scientist; Roni Eckert, Research Scientist; and Lisa Huzjak, R&D Executive Assistant. Students learned about sensory science and were able to formulate and bake their own muffin blends.
